Sensys Gatso receives new TRaaS contract for traffic safety in De Soto, IA worth SEK 22 million; Iowa expansion continues

25-01-2024

Sensys Gatso Group, a global leader in traffic safety solutions, through its subsidiary, Sensys Gatso USA, has executed a seven-year base-term automated speed and red light enforcement contract with the City of DeSoto, IA, USA. The contract is estimated to be worth up to USD 2.1 million, corresponding to SEK 22 million. The program is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2024 with automated enforcement systems and a mobile speed vehicle.

“We chose Sensys Gatso as they are the leader in the area,” said Police Chief John Sparling. “I had reached out to other departments using the system and they were all happy.”

“We look forward to partnering with the City of De Soto to address their traffic safety concerns,” said Sensys Gatso USA President and Managing Director, Bill Braden. “Our team is ready to work with the city to implement their specifically designed automated traffic safety program. Through technology, automated traffic enforcement becomes a force multiplier for the city and helps effectively manage traffic and enhance safety in their community. Chief Sparling is passionate about traffic safety and we are ready to help him address his concerns.”

“The goal of using the system is to change driver behavior,” Sparling added. “Where we will be deploying these systems has a high traffic volume. I was reviewing my other cameras, and I did observe 5 red light violations in under 3 minutes, and all were near collisions. This behavior must change for the safety of our residents and visitors.”

Sensys Gatso USA now has 14 contracted automated traffic enforcement programs in the state.
